St. Bernard Port Awarded Federal Grant to Reconstruct Chalmette Slip
The St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District was recently named one of only three ports nationwide to be awarded a federal grant from the Department of Transportation to be used for infrastructure improvements.
The Port is set to receive a $13 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant, or a TIGER grant, to help fund the reconstruction of parts of the Chalmette Slip.
St. Bernard Port Installs New Officers

Boasso expands operations at St. Bernard Port, as well as across the country and overseas
When Boasso America first became a tenant of the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District in 2002, the then 17-year-old tank container company operated a few locations around the New Orleans area, as well as a handful of out-of-state, domestic terminals.
Drew Heaphy is now at the helm of the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District after assuming his duties as the new Executive Director on July 1.
Heaphy, who began his tenure with the Port in 1999 as Director of Administration, has 23 years of experience in public administration and financial management. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and is a Certified Public Accountant.
St. Bernard Port Sees Significant Growth at Violet Terminal
Now in its third year of cargo operations, the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District’s Violet Terminal has seen significant growth in cargo handling. There have been numerous capital improvements and several closings on properties adjacent to the Terminal. Capital improvements include security fencing, surveillance equipment, dockside electrical and structural repairs.
St. Bernard Port Releases Annual Activity Report
The St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District recently released its annual activity report to the American Association of Port Authorities.
